Job Title: Design Engineer
Roles and Responsibilities
Electrical Design and Drafting
- Prepare comprehensive wiring diagrams for electrical equipment, power substations, and residential and commercial buildings according to project objectives, design information, and engineering specifications.
- Utilize AutoCAD to create engineering drawings, including standard arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, and riser diagrams, from rough sketches or general design information.
- Prepare advanced complexity 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings for electrical and PLC panel packages, ensuring compliance with established standards and procedures.
Technical Review and Quality Assurance
- Check that final technical drafts include all relevant information in an easy-to-read format and verify accuracy of calculations, measurements, and units based on initial design inputs.
- Perform drawing checks to confirm accuracy and acceptability, guided by drafting standards and specifications.
- Prepare as-built drawings, bills of material, and ferrule lists, ensuring resolution of client comments.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Coordinate design and drawings with multiple engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of systems.
- Work with vendors to obtain technical information and integrate components into system designs.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers by contributing ideas, creating rough sketches, and adapting designs according to verbal or written instructions.
Electrical Systems and Documentation
- Prepare conduit and cable schedules, riser diagrams, and installation drawings for electrical equipment.
- Create electrical and PLC panel drawing packages to match current manufactured or installed assemblies, including I/O points.
- Develop and document installation and arrangement drawings for equipment.
Job Skills & Qualifications
Qualification
- ITI, Diploma, Degree (Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics)
Technical Skills
- Associate degree in drafting or CAD
- Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of electrical circuitry and design
Other Skills
- Learn and master new software tools required to enhance design work.
- Demonstrate the ability to draw complex electrical systems from sketches using appropriate symbology, terms, procedures, and drafting standards.
- Participate in the design process by supporting engineers and providing technical input to refine and optimize system designs.
